For a little one who has lived as an orphan for a period of time, a birthday can be stressful. For 9 years, one of our daughters didn't celebrate a single birthday. For 7 years, 2 of our children weren't even aware that a birthday had come and gone. For 1 of ours, it was 5 years, and for another little one of ours, it was 4 years. They didn't miss it, as it wasn't something they expected or even understood. But, all of that changed in 2014. Now, every birthday is celebrated. All responsibilities stop, Daddy stays home from work, and the Lusher world revolves around them on their birthday, just them - their likes, their preferences, just whatever they enjoy.
But, I'm not writing to share about our most recent birthday. You see, there's a group of people who shed light on our 5 that we most recently adopted. It's this group who walked us through every step of our adoption - and I do mean every step. Even now, I am connected with so many families like ours, through this organization. It's Reece's Rainbow. And, they are celebrating 10 years of helping create families like ours through adoption and advocacy. Happy 10 years Reece's Rainbow! And THANK YOU!!!
