Last night's "Keys" (to our hearts) jar question: If you could spend 1 year in another country, where would you live? A said China because she would like to visit there, but without the risk of jail for believing in Jesus. H (adopted from U) said America because she loves it here and doesn't want to live without a momma again. S (also adopted from U) said America because of all the food and fun but also because she wants to keep learning from momma so she can have a good life and have momma's help (she didn't realized we'd all be together). A (again, adopted from U) said America because she loves it here with "my momma and daddy". L said Africa so she can help with the food and water shortages at the orphanages there. J (adopted from U) said "the orphanage" then clarified that he meant in Africa so that he could help carry clean water to the people there and in orphanages. J said he was happy in America and wanted to build his own house here. E said she absolutely did not know. E (adopted from U) said he liked all the food in America and didn't want to go to another country. I didn't realize at first, but quickly saw that, for my kids born in U, I needed to reiterate that this was just pretend, but if we did go to another country to live for a year, we'd go together. And it was interested that our kids born here, whether bio or adopted from America, were not nervous about this question and quickly went into deep thought about what they'd like. With the exception of 1, our internationally born children were nervous about the idea of moving to another country for a year and just wanted to be in America, being sure to state that they wanted Momma and Daddy to stay. Part of my bubbled with joy that they loved it here, especially when they mentioned that they wanted Momma to keep teaching them. And part of me sunk because, due to their horrific pasts, they were nervous answering this question.
